In Memory

Susan Slack (Nielson)

Susan Nielson, passed on December 7, 2017, due to an undetected brain tumor.
Susan was the first of five born to Carlyle and Marian Slack. She graduated from Clearfield High in 1969. Her most memorable job, and by far her favorite, was being a grandmother to the special needs kids at Doxey Elementary.

During her first marriage to Gail Gardner, she gave birth to her two children in her home.

In 1981, she met the love of her life, Craig Nielson, with whom she devoted the rest of her years. Though they had no children together, he embraced her family as his own. He loved spoiling her, and did until the end.

She was an intelligent and confident woman. She had a twisted sense of humor, an excitement for life, and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. Her heart was full, and so were her bookshelves.

She is survived by her husband, Oren “Craig” Nielson; her children, Ellen O'Shea and Gail “Carl” Gardner; her handpicked son, Joshua Argyle; her grandchildren: Melyssa Phelps (Dave Nicholson); Trevor (Morrigan) Phelps; G'eode and Craig Gardner; her brothers, Ellis (Marie) Slack, David (Sue) Slack; brother-in-law, Kevin Nielson; three great-grandchildren, and many others that loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Carlyle and Marian Slack; her father-in-law, Oren Nielson; her sisters, Ellen Slack and Marie Slack Beasley; and her nephew, Dustin Slack.

There will be an informal wake at a later date for the spreading of her ashes. For those that wish to participate, please
